In September and October 2024, CICADA successfully hosted National Policy for Culture workshops in four key locations: Battambang, Siem Reap, Prey Veng, and Phnom Penh, with 65 participants from various sectors within the arts and cultural field. These sessions provided a platform for participants to read, discuss, and contribute insights, fostering meaningful engagement in the policy development process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshops aimed to broaden awareness of the Culture Policy and strengthen the ability of cultural practitioners and artists to engage in policy development. By gathering a diverse range of participants, CICADA enabled an inclusive exchange of ideas and perspectives, empowering the arts and cultural community to take an active role in shaping cultural policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“During the National Policy on Culture seminar, I gained valuable knowledge from the presentations and insights shared by the speakers. This workshop went beyond just presentations; it provided a platform for active participation, allowing each of us\u2014including myself\u2014to discuss and examine each aspect of the policy. This approach enabled us to identify areas we didn’t fully understand and to raise questions for clarification, deepening our comprehension. Through these discussions, the participants and I recognized the vital role this policy plays in the preservation, development, and promotion of the national cultural sector across all communities. Inspired by what I learned, I am committed to sharing this knowledge with my community and contributing to the preservation of our national cultural heritage in alignment with the principles outlined in the National Policy on Culture.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
